Why I have a red X on my hand today...

Did you know that there are over 27 million slaves in the world today? If you're like I was a few years ago I would have told you that slavery was abolished by the Civil War and wasn't a problem today. BUT IT IS! There are millions today who are forced into labor, in mines, brothels, factories etc... There are millions of literal slaves in this world. I can no longer be silent about this mainly unspoken of issue. I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. He came to set the captives free and bring hope and salvation to a world lost in sin. I joined the End It movement because I want to see an end to slavery. I wrote a red X on my hand not because it had some magical power but because I wanted to spread awareness. I told over 10 people which is pretty good for not even getting the chance to get off my college campus. And all of them weren't fellow students. I took today to do what the movement asked- Shine a Light on Slavery. I saw it as a chance to tell other people about the major problem of human trafficking in this world TODAY. We can make a difference. If you a follower of Christ you have the tools you need to change the world. We have a message of hope to the hopeless. We have the gospel. I encourage you to educate yourself. Slavery is real and all over the world-including the USA. Through God's strength and power we can make a difference. Above is a video from the End It Movement. http://enditmovement.com/

So, spread the word and most of all, PRAY. Pray for those enslaved and those who are making the effort to free them.

  1. Hello Gina. So good to know you through your profile on the blogger and also it was good to stop by your blog "Eyes on High" and the post on it "Why I have a red X on My Hand Today?". Your sharing is an eye opener to the fact of slavery and human trafficking. Thank you for challenging Christians who have the Gospel and God's power and strength to bring about the change and make a difference. I am sorry I could not see the video but I am reminded of the enormous task God has entrusted on us. I am blessed too through your sharing. Well let me take this opportunity to share about the project we have of encouraging young people as well as adults from the West to come to Mumbai, India to work with us In the slums of Mumbai amongst poorest of poor to share the good news of Jesus and set the captive free and give them hope, future and purpose. I am in the Pastoral ministry for last 34yrs in this great city of Mumbai a city with great contrast where richest of rich and the poorest of poor live. We reach out to the poorest of poor with the love of Christ to bring healing to the broken hearted. We also encourage young people as well as adults from the West to come to Mumbai to work with us during their summer/ Christmas vacation. We would love to have you come to Mumbai with your friends on a short /long term missions trip to work with us in the slums of Mumbai during your summer / Christmas vacation. I am sure you will never be the same. Looking forward to hear from you very soon. My email id is: dhwawnkhede(at)gmail(dot)com and my name is Diwakar Wankhede
