INDIA

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever get to go to India. But yet I yearned with everything I had to go. It started with my mom reading to me the life of Amy Carmichael, once I was old enough I read "A Chance to Die" by Elizabeth Elliot (a fantastic book if you haven't read it yet). She had such an incredible life and was used by God to have an amazing impact on so many lives as a missionary in India. Her life fueled my desire to go. Anyways, since I am in the Missions program I have to complete a six week apprenticeship overseas during the summer after my junior year. I was a little worried, besides some cousins in Greece I don't really have any connections. So I talked with my adviser at school and at first we tried to work something through ABWE and going to Bangladesh. It fell through, so it's about November and I have no clue what I am doing for the summer and I'm starting to panic. So a friend comes, who knows that I have a heart for India and tells me of an opportunity to go to India. I go talk to my adviser and we start the process of making my way there. Long story short, I found out I had to raise $3,000. Whoa, that terrified me. But now I have most of my money raised and I have seen God do amazing things. I am traveling with a friend and we will be staying in Kerala, India for six weeks with a missionary and his family. We will be ministering at the children's home and school, and Bible college and seminary that they have started there. I am so excited, it's just one of those things where God has given me the desire of my heart. I wasn't even searching for it, He just brought it to me. So cool. Anyways, pray for me and my friend. We need it haha. We are leaving June 15th and will return to the States July 25th. Pray the Lord would keep us safe and give us a fruitful ministry. I'm praying that will be life changing and that God would continue to fuel my passion for sharing His love with everyone I meet.

I'm back!...for a while

Wow, I haven't written in just over a year. I apologize. This has certainly been a crazy and stressful past year. My dad shut down his chiropractic office and is now a full time professor, I started my junior year of college, my grandfather passed away after a long battle with cancer in November, and many other events. I have since completed my junior year, I'm officially a Senior! I also have another exciting event coming up in just a couple weeks. I'm going to....INDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My life long dream is coming true. I can't even tell you how excited I am (or  how nervous my mom is lol). My next post will be all about it. :)

Patrick's Story

http://patricksstory.wordpress.com/

The above website is one you must visit. Warning, you may tear up or even cry. It is a blog started by a pastor who spoke at my college this past fall. This winter he found out he has ALS and the disease is attacking his body very quickly. I am posting this one, because his testimony is so amazing and encouraging and two because he and his family needs our prayers. You absolutely need to listen to the message he preached. I do not know Patrick personally but it moved me deeply. It was so incredibly encouraging to see that even though he is dying from this disease he still wants to serve the Lord. So just go, visit his blog, read his posts, watch his sermon. Be encouraged and pray, pray, pray.

Review - Time4Learning

 Review
   by Tracy P.

Well, a free trial month of Time 4 Learning online homeschool (or after school help) has gone by and we have really liked it. For me it was a lifesaver, as I have been dealing with some health problems. It took much of the stress off of me.
It was really nice to have the boys "go on their school" each morning. My 6th grade son could do almost everything independently with minimal supervison from me (checking periodically to be sure he was on a certain subject, etc) My third grader needed me to only occasionally sit with him. Most of the subjects had easy directions for him. We liked the animations or games for grammar especially, as this is normally a boring subject with textbooks.
The only things we felt we needed to add were writing assignments, or history research projects. I also had the boys read a chapter book each day. Time4Learning recommends using the website Spelling City for spelling words. We used words from our AVKO word family books that we own. To practice math facts we used another site called "Timez Attacks" (I didn't notice Time 4 Learning having a practice for facts, but they may very well , and I may not have known about it)
We're signing up for another month. I recommend it if you are stressed with  moving to a new house, a new baby, or health problems. This review is my own opinion of our experience.
See the website below for monthly fee, etc.(The Time 4 Writing curriculum looks good too. I may try that next!)

This world is not my home...

‎1 Corinthians 4:16-18- "That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and wont last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."
What a refocus-er and reminder to my heart. Too often I get wrapped up in the problems of today and forget the reason I'm here on earth; to glorify God.
